Free the Bears Fund, in partnership with Wildlife At Risk (WAR), has begun the rescue of thousands of bears trapped in Vietnam's bear-bile farms.
Work is well advanced on two new sanctuaries and rapid progress is vital as we have 22 bears already in our care.
Our first 'forest' sanctuary, in Cat Tien National Park, has just been completed. This lets the bears step out of their cages and onto grass for the first time since they were cubs.
The resulting change in their character is quite spellbinding as they learn to play together, dig for grubs and climb trees.
Our inaugural bear-holding area, in the Mekong Delta Bear Sanctuary, is due for completion this January; allowing the first group of animals to be transferred to a truly world-class facility.
But much more must be done to save the bears in Vietnam and we need your support.
Most of our new arrivals are unnamed because naming an animal bestows it with a personality and respect and bear farmers are unwilling to do this.
However, you have the opportunity to right this--for just AU$3,000.
Your 'naming-donation' will assist in building more night dens to ensure they sleep in peace, forest enclosures so they can run and play with friends, and pools to let them splash about.
You'll receive a photograph of 'your' bear and three personal emails, updating you on progress over the next year.
More than 4,500 bears are imprisoned in Vietnam's bear farms--help us to let their personalities shine and give these amazing creatures a deserved future.
