We have rescued over 400 bears off the streets of India thanks to the supporters
of FTB.
Project India has been so successful that we are now in the process of
developing 145 acres to take the remaining bears off the roads of India, thus
ending the 'dancing' bear trade and saving a most endangered species from
extinction.
There are already 56 bears on the new land, all rescued by FTB.
FTB has given over $500,000 for the development and construction which has
already begun and includes night dens, planting of trees, fencing, shade houses
and accommodation for keepers.
We have rescued and care for over 150 bears in the Agra Bear Rescue Facility.Other FTB rescued bears are either housed in a second sanctuary in Bannerghatta
or they are being temporarily held in Jharkhand, Bijnore, Hydrabad, Karnataka,
Harayana, Gurgaon, West Bengal/Bihar State waiting to be taken onto the new
land.
As part of the Kalander Rehabilitation Program, FTB has provided seed money,
education, training and ongoing social support to the Kalander people which
assists them in an alternative livelihood in place of 'dancing' bears.
Understanding the Kalander's reliance on the bears for their survival is one of
the keys to the successful rescue and rehabilitation of not only the bears, but
also the enrichment of the lives of the Kalander people.
100% of all sponsorships and
donations go to the bears!
Payments over $2.00 are tax deductible.
