| Bear of the Month - Molly - October 2008 |
Little Molly, who is an absolute darling, was confiscated by the Wildlife Rapid
Rescue Team after being discovered being offered for sale in Phnom Penh,
Cambodia on 21st July 2008. She was just a few months old when she arrived at
the Free the Bears Fund Phnom Tamao Rescue Centre and weighed a mere 4.5kg.
Molly has already more than doubled that now weighing in at a much healthier
10kg.
She is one of the happiest little cubs we have ever had and is coming along in
leaps and bounds. As she has the new nursery to herself she is constantly
playing and keeping herself occupied, always keen to be visited by the keepers
but not in the desperate way that some of the other cubs rely on human contact.
Our head Bear Keeper Mr. Vuthy is besotted with her and says she is the
cleverest cub we have ever had as she is totally happy playing with people or by
herself. With all the new toys we have now she really makes the most of her
enclosure. (Thanks to the great products and support of aussiedog.com.au).
We still get her out for runarounds most afternoons although that will end soon
as she is becoming WAY too independent. She loves to play outside and she really
likes climbing trees, initially this caused concern as she would go to the top
of the tree and get stuck, but she is quite the little acrobat now and can
handle anything.
